Terms of Service
These Terms are a binding agreement between you and StuStudios ("we", "us", "our") covering stustudios.net, every game, extension, tool and page on it, and every account, save and submission made through it (together, the "Service"). By using the Service you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the Service.
The short version
This box is a convenience, not the agreement. Where it and the numbered sections differ, the numbered sections govern.
- It's free, and it's one person's hobby project. Nothing here is a commercial guarantee.
- One account per device. Enforced by a browser fingerprint, and it is imperfect.
- There is no password reset — but a code by email, a passkey or Google will get you back in.
- We record a lot about how you use the site — clicks, playtime, errors, performance, frustration signals. We do not record what you type into forms.
- Your game saves are synced automatically and you cannot export, import, reset or download them.
- We can change, retire, suspend or delete anything — including your account — at any time and without notice.
- Don't copy the games, reverse-engineer them, scrape the site, or train models on it.
- Everything is provided "as is", with no warranty and essentially no liability.
- Taiwanese law governs, and disputes go to the Taipei District Court.
1 · Agreement
You accept these Terms by doing any of the following: creating an account, signing in, or using any part of the Service — including simply browsing it while signed out.
Where the Service asks you to tick a box confirming acceptance, we record the fact, the date and the version of these Terms you accepted against your account.
If you use the Service on behalf of someone else, or allow another person to use your account, you accept these Terms for both of you and remain responsible for everything done through your account.
2 · Who may use StuStudios
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, you may use the Service only with the involvement of a parent or guardian, who accepts these Terms on your behalf.
We do not currently verify age at signup. We rely on this section and on you telling us the truth. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 13 we will delete it.
You may not use the Service if you are barred from doing so under any applicable law, or if we have previously terminated your account.
3 · Your account
Most of the Service requires an account. You are responsible for your credentials and for everything that happens under your account.
One account per device
We permit one account per device. At signup your browser computes a fingerprint — derived from your user agent, language, platform, processor count, memory, touch points, screen dimensions, colour depth, pixel ratio, timezone and a canvas and WebGL rendering sample — which we hash and store against your account. A device that already has an account cannot create another.
This is deliberately imperfect. Two sufficiently similar machines can produce the same fingerprint, in which case the second person is refused. If that happens to you,tell us and we can release the claim manually. Equally, changing browser or device may let you create an additional account; doing so deliberately to evade this rule or a ban is a breach of these Terms.
Names
Usernames and display names are filtered against a blocklist and a reserved-name list. We may reject, change or reclaim any name at our sole discretion — including names that impersonate us, our staff, or anyone else.
Email addresses are not verified
When you sign up with a password we do not send a confirmation message and we do not verify that the address is yours. Your email address is therefore an identifier, not a proven contact route, and we may not be able to reach you.
Sessions
Sessions last 30 days and are held in a cookie. You can see and revoke your own active sessions from your account page; each entry shows the IP address, browser and part of the device fingerprint that created it. Changing your password ends every other session.
4 · Getting back in
There is no password reset. We cannot set a password on your behalf and there are no security questions. What we do have are three ways back in that do not need your password:
- A code by email. We send a six-digit code to your address; it works once and expires in ten minutes.
- A passkey, if you registered one — your fingerprint, face or screen lock.
- Google, if you signed in that way.
Read this one. Those routes depend on you still controlling the email address on the account, or still having a registered passkey or Google login. If you lose your passwordand access to that email address, and have no passkey, your account and everything in it — saves, progress, records, team memberships — is gone for good. Nobody, including us, can restore it. Keep the address current, or add a passkey.
5 · What we may do, and when
We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, at any time, for any reason or no reason, and without prior notice to you, to:
- change, suspend, restrict, degrade or discontinue any part of the Service, including any individual game;
- retire a game — removing it from the arcade, the guide and every leaderboard and statistic, so that it no longer appears to exist;
- suspend, ban, rename, restrict or permanently delete your account;
- read, review, modify, reset or delete your saved game data;
- end any or all of your sessions, or every session on the Service at once;
- remove, edit or refuse any content you submit;
- change who may access the Service, including opening it to the public or closing it entirely;
- impose or change limits on storage, requests, accounts or use;
- investigate suspected breaches, including by comparing accounts that share an IP address or device fingerprint;
- take any other action we consider appropriate to protect the Service, ourselves or other users.
A ban does not release the device claim associated with the banned account, so a banned user cannot simply register again from the same device.
We are not obliged to give reasons, to warn you beforehand, to notify you afterwards, or to preserve anything before acting. We are not liable to you or anyone else for exercising any of these rights. None of this obliges us to monitor the Service, and we do not routinely review content.
6 · Your progress and saves
Progress is saved automatically. While you are signed in, the Service copies your local game data to our server roughly every twenty seconds, when you switch away from the tab, and when you leave the page. This is not optional and there is no manual save control.
You cannot export, import, download, reset or otherwise directly manage your saved data. Those controls do not exist, by design. Progress is written only by the automatic sync layer.
Saves are stored as a single record per account, capped at two million bytes, and writtenlast-writer-wins. If you play on two devices, the most recent upload replaces the previous one in full. There is no merge, no conflict detection, no version history and no way to recover an overwritten save.
We make no guarantee whatsoever that saved data will be retained, restored, migrated or preserved across updates. Progress may be lost through ordinary operation, a bug, a server failure, a game update, a retirement, or our own action under section 5. Treat all progress as disposable.
Saved data may include things you typed inside a game — for example the questions you ask the Magic 8 Ball, or the words you enter in Word Salad — because those games keep a history and that history forms part of the save. See section 7.
7 · What we record about you
The Service carries detailed first-party analytics. There are no third-party advertising or tracking networks, and we do not sell your data. What we do collect is extensive, and this section sets it out honestly.
Before you have an account
Measurement begins on your first visit, whether or not you ever sign up. We store an anonymous identifier in your browser that persists across visits, plus a per-tab visit identifier. If you later sign in, earlier activity from that visit is attached to your account, and we may retrospectively associate historical activity with the account that owned the visit.
Per visit
IP address, user agent, browser, operating system, device type, screen and viewport size, pixel ratio, language, timezone, processor count, memory, network connection type, referring page (up to 300 characters), campaign parameters, entry and exit paths, and counters for active time, pageviews, clicks, keypresses and scroll depth.
Per action
We record events of the following kinds: session start, pageview, active-time, scroll depth, click, keypress count, tab visibility, idle, JavaScript error, page performance, form submission, outbound link, rage click, dead click, game start and game end.
A click record includes the clicked element's visible label (up to 80 characters), its tag, id and classes, and the coordinates of the click. A performance record includes DNS, connection, response, download and load timings and transfer size. A rage click is three or more clicks in the same small area within half a second; a dead click is a click that changed nothing on the page. Both are recorded, with coordinates, as signals that you were frustrated or confused.
Per account
Lifetime play count and total time played for each game, first and last played, a day-by-day activity record, milestones and records you set, the IP address you signed up from, your registered device fingerprints, and your team memberships.
What other people can see
Your username, display name, avatar, ranking and record figures may be visible to other users on leaderboards. Within a team, other members can see your playtime and what you are currently playing.
What the operator can see
The site administrator can see every account's email address, signup IP, registered device fingerprints, full activity history, and the contents of saved game data, and can cross-reference accounts that share an IP address or device fingerprint in order to identify alternate accounts.
Copy tracing
Each copy of a game we serve you is individually marked with your account identifier, and we record which copy was issued to whom. If a copy is redistributed, those marks identify the account it came from.
Game files also report back to us if they are run anywhere other than this Service — for example from a downloaded folder or a mirror. Such a report tells us which account's copy it is, which game, and where it was running. We use this solely to detect and act on redistribution.
Retention
We keep this data for as long as we find it useful. Deleting your account removes your account record, saves, sessions and device claims, and telemetry that we hold against your account; some records may persist in backups, logs or aggregates.
8 · What we do not record
These are commitments, not merely current behaviour:
- We do not record what you type into forms. Keystrokes are counted, never captured — the collector increments a number and cannot see the characters. Text is never read from an input, textarea, select or editable field, nor from any element containing one, and the server independently strips roughly fifty sensitive field names from every event before storage.
- We do not record your password in any form. Passwords are salted and hashed, and are never logged.
- We do not record the full address of pages you visit elsewhere. When you follow a link off the Service we store the destination host only, never the full URL.
- We do not record query strings. Only campaign parameters are extracted; the rest is discarded before it leaves your browser, because query strings can carry personal data.
- We do not use third-party advertising or analytics networks, and we do not sell or rent your data.
The first commitment covers telemetry. It does not cover text you deliberately typeinto a game, which may be kept as part of your save and synced to our server — see section 6. Nor does it cover anything you post publicly, such as forum threads, comments, team names or feedback reports.
9 · Your content, and the licence you give us
You may submit content — forum threads and comments, feedback and bug reports, team names and descriptions, display names, and anything else the Service lets you post. You remain responsible for it.
You must not submit anything that is unlawful, obscene, threatening, harassing, defamatory, hateful, invasive of privacy, infringing of anyone's rights, deceptive, or that contains malware, spam or solicitation. You must not impersonate anyone.
Licence. By submitting content you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, transferable and fully sublicensable right and licence to use, host, store, reproduce, modify, adapt, translate, publish, publicly perform, publicly display, create derivative works from and distribute that content, in any media now known or later developed, for any purpose connected with operating, developing or promoting the Service. We may use the name you submit alongside it. This licence survives the deletion of your content and of your account.
You represent and warrant that you own or otherwise control all rights in the content you submit, that it is accurate, and that its use by us will not infringe anyone's rights or cause injury to any person.
We may remove, edit or refuse any content at any time, and we are not obliged to monitor, store or return it. Suggestions and feature ideas you send us may be used freely, with no obligation and no compensation.
10 · Our content, and what you may not do with it
The Service, its games, source code, artwork, text, layout, sounds, design and the StuStudios name are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by copyright and other laws. Nothing in these Terms transfers any of it to you.
We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable licence to access and play the Service for your own private, non-commercial entertainment. That licence ends immediately if you breach these Terms.
You may not:
- copy, reproduce, republish, distribute, sell, rent, sublicense or otherwise exploit any part of the Service;
- reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, deobfuscate, or attempt to derive the source code or underlying logic of any part of the Service;
- circumvent, disable or interfere with any protective, obfuscation, rate-limiting or access-control measure;
- use any scraper, crawler, bot, or automated means to access, collect or extract any part of the Service or its data;
- use any part of the Service — including its code, text, artwork or output — to train, fine-tune, evaluate or improve any machine-learning model, large language model or related system;
- create derivative works, clones or reskins of any game;
- frame or mirror the Service, or use its name or marks in a way likely to cause confusion;
- remove, alter or obscure any copy-tracing mark embedded in a game file, or disable the reporting it contains;
- cheat, manipulate scores, forge telemetry, or interfere with another user's play;
- probe, scan, overload or test the vulnerability of the Service or its infrastructure;
- use the Service unlawfully, or to do anything unlawful.
Shipped game code is deliberately obfuscated. That is a deterrent, not a security measure, and its presence does not create any right for you to defeat it. Similarly, the Service applies measures that discourage copying content, opening developer tools and similar actions; attempting to bypass them is a breach of this section.
All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
11 · Third-party material
Not everything on the Service is ours, and we do not claim ownership of material belonging to others. The Service includes or links to third-party games, modifications, music by named artists, typefaces, libraries and tools, each of which remains the property of its respective owner and may be subject to its own licence.
The Service also links to sites we do not control, including an external casino-themed game, Minecraft servers and browser extensions. We do not endorse, and are not responsible for, the content, practices, availability or policies of any third-party site or service. Your use of them is between you and them.
Signing in with Google is subject to Google's own terms and privacy policy in addition to these Terms.
12 · Nothing here is real gambling
Some games use the visual language of casinos, slot machines, betting or currency. These are simulations for entertainment only. No real money is staked, won or paid out. In-game currency, coins, tokens, scores and ranks have no monetary value whatsoever, cannot be exchanged for anything of value, are not your property, and may be adjusted or removed at any time.
Practice or success at a simulated game does not imply success at real gambling. Nothing on the Service is an offer of gambling services.
13 · Availability, changes and retirement
The Service is a personal project, run on modest hardware, with no uptime commitment and no support obligation. It may be slow, broken, or offline at any time, with or without notice, permanently or temporarily.
Games are added, changed and retired. A retired game is removed from the arcade, the guide and every leaderboard and statistic, and is treated as though it does not exist. Progress in a retired game may become inaccessible or be excluded from your record. We will not necessarily tell you before this happens.
14 · Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your access, your account, or the whole Service at any time, with or without cause and with or without notice. On termination your right to use the Service ends immediately.
You may stop using the Service at any time, and may delete your own account from your account page. Deleting your account is immediate and permanent: it erases your account, cloud saves, sessions, device claims, team memberships and history. There is no undo, no grace period and no recovery. We are not obliged to provide you with a copy of anything beforehand, and by design the Service provides no means of doing so.
Sections 8 through 12 and 15 through 20 survive termination, along with any other section that by its nature should.
15 · Disclaimer of warranties
THE SERVICE AND EVERYTHING IN IT ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITH ALL FAULTS AND WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS, IMPLIED, STATUTORY OR OTHERWISE, INCLUDING ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, ACCURACY AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, TIMELY, SECURE OR ERROR-FREE, THAT DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED, THAT IT IS FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS, OR THAT ANY DATA — INCLUDING SAVED GAME PROGRESS — WILL BE PRESERVED, ACCURATE OR RECOVERABLE. YOU USE THE SERVICE ENTIRELY AT YOUR OWN RISK.
16 · Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, GOODWILL, DATA, SAVED PROGRESS OR OPPORTUNITY, ARISING OUT OF OR CONNECTED WITH THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE, WHETHER IN CONTRACT, TORT, NEGLIGENCE, STRICT LIABILITY OR OTHERWISE, AND EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY.
OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) THE TOTAL AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE, AND (B) NEW TAIWAN DOLLARS 100. THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED FREE OF CHARGE, SO IN MOST CASES THIS AMOUNT WILL BE NT$100.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Where any limitation above is held unenforceable, it applies to the maximum extent permitted instead.
17 · Indemnity
You will indemnify, defend and hold us harmless from any claim, demand, loss, liability, damage, cost or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or connected with your use of the Service, any content you submit, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of any law or of anyone else's rights.
18 · Changes to these Terms
We may change these Terms at any time. The current version always lives at this address, and the version stamp at the top changes when it does. Changes take effect when published. Continuing to use the Service after that is acceptance of the new Terms. If you do not accept them, stop using the Service and delete your account.
We may, but need not, ask you to accept a materially changed version before you continue.
19 · Governing law and disputes
These Terms, and any dispute or claim arising out of or connected with them or the Service — including non-contractual disputes — are governed by the laws of Taiwan (Republic of China), without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
You agree that the Taipei District Court is the court of first instance and has exclusive jurisdiction over any such dispute, and you submit to that jurisdiction.
You agree to bring any claim in your individual capacity, and not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, collective or representative proceeding, to the extent that is permitted by law.
Some rights cannot be signed away. If you are a consumer, mandatory consumer-protection law in your place of residence — including, in Taiwan, the Consumer Protection Act — may give you rights that these Terms cannot remove, and may treat a standard-form term as void if it is manifestly unfair. Where that is so, that law wins over the wording here.
20 · General
Severability. If any provision is held invalid or unenforceable, it is severed and the rest remains in force.
No waiver. If we do not enforce a provision, that is not a waiver of it.
Assignment. You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your account. We may assign them freely, including as part of a transfer of the Service.
Entire agreement. These Terms are the entire agreement between us about the Service and replace anything said or written beforehand.
Language. These Terms are written in English. If they are translated and the versions conflict, the English version governs.
No third-party rights. Nobody other than you and us has any right to enforce these Terms.
21 · Contact
Questions, complaints, name disputes, device-fingerprint collisions and copyright notices: use the feedback form, which reaches the operator directly.
If you believe something on the Service infringes your copyright, tell us what the work is, where the infringing material is, how to contact you, and confirm that you believe in good faith that the use is unauthorised and that your report is accurate. We remove infringing material and terminate repeat infringers.
